Recovery - first 24 hours after surgery

Alexis is doing great.  She spent most of yesterday and last night sleeping.  Medically she is doing wonderfully, her pain is well controlled and Dan found a great way to soothe her when she gets a little upset by gently touching her forehead and cheeks... this kept her quite content all night.

Before surgery her potassium was right on the edge of the dangerous zone - 5.1.  Today her potassium is in the normal range and I was told this morning that she will no longer be limited to a low potassium diet... which means she can eat bananas and chocolate and milk and cheese and so many things she hasn't eatin for so long.

The transplant coordinator just came to give us the BIG test result... her creatinine this morning is 0.4 !!!   YES - that number started with ZERO !!!  Prior to surgery her creatinine was sky rocketing FAST...  2.9 then 3.1 then 4.2 all in a matter of months.  We prayed and prayed for her creatinine to go down... and the Lord has answered our prayers in His way and in His timing.

This morning Alexis is awake and calmly sitting and watching Dora with all her bears around her.  She is doing so well that she will be moved out of ICU this afternoon.  We can't wait because then we will be in a room next to Kim !!!  And then I will be able to update you on how she is doing.
